mario I. suárez, ph.d.

Mario I. Suárez (he/him/él) is an Assistant Professor in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Utah State University.  He holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture at Texas A&M University.

He comes to the field with teaching experience in high school mathematics and a specialization in teaching English Language Learners as well as with Advanced Placement teaching experience.   He has been interviewed by local, state, and national media outlets such as Univision and NPRed.  He has written about his experience as a Mexican American transgender teacher of color in hopes of paying it forward to youth who may relate to his experience.
