ABOUT ME
Dr. Suárez is a trans man from the Texas-México border town of Eagle Pass, Texas. He graduated from Eagle Pass High School-C.C. Winn Campus in 2002 and pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ethnic Studies at The University of Texas at Austin in 2006. In 2007, he received his license as a Texas secondary mathematics teacher (grades 8-12). After several years of teaching, he received a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics Education in 2012. His master's report was titled "Interventions for English Language Learners in the Mathematics Classroom", completed through the UTeach program at The University of Texas at Austin. He is also certified as a Texas Legacy Master Mathematics Grades 8-12 Teacher and was certified as an Advanced Placement Statistics teacher.
Dr. Suárez completed his Ph. D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University in December 2018. His dissertation research consisted of three quantitative studies that examined the relationship between being children of same-sex parents and their developmental, early literacy, and early numeracy outcomes.
